In Febraury, 2001, some dear friends surprised me by treating me to dinner and a concert at the legendary folk/roots club The Tin Angel in Philadelphia. On the bill that night was one of my favorite guitarists and people in this ol' world, Fender Telecaster king Bill Kirchen. Bill is shrined in the halls of rock'n'roll legend is build on many reasons-- the best known being his work with  Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen in the 1970's. That's Bill doing the trademark guitar riff on the Commander's single, "Hot Rod Lincoln." I'm proud to say that we've become good friends over the years.

It was a hot set-- I've seldom heard Bill and the band (Jack O'dell on drums, Johnny Castle on bass) play better.   Then, about half way through the set Bill and the band surprised me with this "ham fisted", slack jawed rock'n'roll" version of the world's most-played tune. As you can hear, everyone was having a real good time.

One of the finest  moments of my life, ya'll.  I hope Bill doesn't mind me sharing it with you. Visit Bill's website at http://www.billkirchen.com and check his tour schedule. By all means, catch him when he's in our area!

I hope you enjoy the tune.  Let me know what you think of the tune at my message board.
