What are your favorite pieces in the art galleries?

The galleries are:
ROCK 'N' ROLL
ILLUSTRATION
GRIMJACK
SKETCHBOOK
CONAN
COMMISSIONS
ODIN GALLERY

Favorite pieces in all, favorite pieces in one-- it doesn't matter. Any input appreciated. This sort of info gives me things to think about, in regards to composition, technique, subject matter, possible merchandising, etc.

Thanks,
-Timbo

ROCK 'N' ROLL- this one is probably my favorite gallery. Theres something to the one off illustrations you have done for musicians and of musicians and album covers that works out really well. Im partial to the Zappa commission you did for me probably but other than that one I think the Grateful Dead comix covers that you did really stand out. Those covers are some of the best illustrations I have come across for the Dead. They really are brilliant representations of the feel and sound of the band. All of the album covers in this gallery are amazing. That brushed painted stuff you did for those recent album covers (and Odin) are all amazing. I don't see anyone else doing that. I love the Santana cover too.

ILLUSTRATION- I love the Black Lamb cover. I remember seeing that on the comic book store rack and just freaking out. One of your best and IMO one of the best comic book covers out there. That would make an awesome print or t shirt. All the Lansdale covers are great too, love the one for Mad Dog Summer book. That guy in the background with the knife in the moonlight always freaks me out.

GRIMJACK-would love to see the cover to volume 8 on a black T shirt. I love the splash to KI 2.

SKETCHBOOK-love the sketch for the Gnole. Weird stuff. I also love the Lord of the Razor sketches. Really evil depiction of probably the most evil character ever created.

CONAN- tough one here. I love the Frost Giant v Conan commission you did for me. It hangs up in the office and always gets a nod from anyone who sees it. The cover for SOTD 1 is awesome. That would be great to see on a black T shirt too. Love the previews of the Corben and Giorello stuff too.

COMMISSIONS-This might actually be the best gallery. I love the Ranger (Hodag) character. Not sure where he is from but I would love to see him in action. Really cool character. I gotta admit, the color Hex one (with his leaning against a porch with gun in hand) makes me jealous. If I knew who owned it begging and incessant pleading might ensue. I like the oddball requests like Snake Eyes, Amethyst and Zappa holding up a weasel. Not sure what people are thinking but I like it.

ODIN GALLERY- I love Odin. Would love to see a graphic novel one day of it. The painting of Odin slaying Loki's father is really nothing short of amazing, brilliant and awe inspiring. You can feel that giant getting ready to die. I love the background and how it works with the action. Those smoky backgrounds with the paints works great on this piece and the commissions and covers I have seen you use it on. Not sure if its digitally enhanced but either way its great and I don't care what tools people use if they can produce stuff like that.

You really ought to see if anyone out there might give you a chance to put together a big high quality coffee table type book of your one offs, rock and roll artwork and sketches. Something like a career perspective. That stuff is worth it.

Great to hear from you, man.

The "one off" commission requests are a lot of fun. It's sometimes a challenge to do characters that I'm not usually associated with. For instance, I have a commission on the list now for the old Marvel "Roadhog" character! And I just added a Micronauts piece to the gallery. One of the most fun commissions that I ever did featured Jack Kirby's "Big Barda". About the Zappa piece: The choice of the weasel was mine: a tip of the hat to the "Weasels Ripped My Flesh" LP.

Odin colors: Off the top of my head. The color are all done by hand for the pieces in the gallery, except for one black and white that I added blue tints to.

By the way, expect your new commission piece soon. Figure work all done. Just have to do the colors!

I would love to have seen the Barda commission. Thats one of the few female characters I really like in comics. I guess she comes off a bit more real than some. Love the New Gods. I cant recall who Roadhog is but I bet it will be really cool. Theres so many nice pieces on this site. I really don't see anyone else doing that and keeping up with the site. I think its a bit of a waste since this medium is the most affordable and easy way to reach the masses. I'm surprised more people don't have great sites like this one. This site is a real blessing for your fans. Keep em coming!

Really enjoy the GrimJack and Scout work the most. Both of these worlds, and the way you approach the visuals, get my creative juices flowing and make me want to go draw something!

The Rock and Roll artwork is also fantastic, and reminds me of going through my older brothers records as a kid, and droolig over all the amazing artwork on those old school covers.

OK, I have to go draw something now . . .
