2-PAGE SPREAD, CONAN ISSUE 26
Before handing over Conan to yours truly, Kurt Busiek wraps up his tenure with a tale that features the Prince and Wazir. This is one of the scenes from the book where Conan takes center stage. This was a fun scene to draw, and perhaps my favorite piece of artwork from issues 26 and 27. As the artist for the two fill in issues as well as the "Conan and the Songs of the Dead" miniseries with Joe R. Lansdale, it was interesting to see how Kurt and Joe's very different styles effected my approach to the artwork. For Busiek's script I felt inclined to give things the look of a historical drama. For Joe's story I tended to make Conan's world look more arcane and fantastic.
